Introduction:

Daniel was a government official. He found himself in an enticing position where being a witness to the living God could easily be compromised for personal gain and power. Instead, Daniel chose to live a life of spiritual and personal integrity. In the end, even Daniel's foreign king witnesses to the living God of Daniel!

Quiet Time:

1 What comments are made about Daniel and his character? (6:3-5,  6:10-11,  6:19-23)

2. Why was it difficult for his enemies to frame Daniel? Why could he handle opposition so well?

3. What insights do we gain about Godly character even in the face of direct opposition? We live out witness in the marketplace both by testifying as and being followers of Jesus Christ. Acts 1:8 calls us to exemplify a witnessing lifestyle through which our actions and words reflect our growing relationship with God. Think about witnesses to Christ you have met. What qualities have you appreciated most about them? Take a moment to jot down some of these qualities.

Worship and Reflection

"Our Lord makes a disciple His own possession. He becomes responsible for him. 'Ye shall be witnesses unto Me.' The spirit that comes in is not that of doing anything for Jesus, but of being a perfect delight to Him. The secret of the missionary is - I am His and He is carrying out His enterprises through me. Be entirely His."
